Following the Black Saturday bushfires, Ed recognised the need for alerting the community about the potential danger of bushfire and other emergencies in Upper Beaconsfield. Community safety drove his motivation. He began the arduous process of establishing an electronic warning system in consultation with the local CFA, Victoria Police, and other emergency responders. While telecommunications advances helped the process, winning cooperation from all parties proved the bigger challenge.
The now successful not-for-profit message service sends messages to registered users.
