At various locations you can get excellent views south to Port Phillip and Westernport Bays. Northwards are views towards Emerald across Cardinia Reservoir. Nearby settlements include Guys Hill, 2.5 km to the south by road and, to the north, parts of Dewhurst that survived the completion of Cardinia Reservoir in 1973. The small town centre offers a number of shops and eating establishments whilst maintaining a friendly village atmosphere.
